3 years ago my strata approved A/C installation at our AGM with a couple of conditions:
Owner is responsible for any damages resulting from the A/C, especially piercing the building envelope
has to be a mini split ductless heat pump, installed by a strata-approved company with insurance
cover the outdoor unit with a vented custom box so everyone’s unit looks the same
I thought that was very reasonable, but so far no one has installed one. Couple have tried, including myself. Quotes I got were $20k-$40k and up to 6 months for the permitting process. One company I spoke to said they were considering stopping condo installs and just sticking with detached homes because of the headache.
